An important point made in the video Video Games and Learning was that people learn better when they study topics they are interested in. This means to facilitate learning by allowing students to make choices to dictate their own learn path. One way to do this is through tangential learning. This could be done by creating references within a game. These references would provide extra information to expand the knowledge of the gamer based on their interest. In a way it seems similar to the way the web is set up. We browse a website and click links which changes the direction of our learning navigation based on our preferences. The ideas of gamifying for learning can be applied to many situations by applying some important principles. These include providing many options; personal choices determined by the learner, embedding a story to stimulate imagination, and creating a point system to promote competition. Doing these things will making learning engaging or more simply put – fun!!
