Oregon Trail

Here’s a chance to play the classic game Oregon Trail. This is a “serious game” meaning that the game was designed for education (Play This Learn That).  My first attempt started tragically. At the first river crossing I made a decision to cross a flood river which ended the lives of my family. I believe the mistake I made was trying to cross the river while it was raining. It likely made the river deeper than what was stated in the initial report.  I continued on and almost got to Fort Boise before going to heaven with the measles.  The mistake was likely only giving myself 2 days rest.  It was probably too short for this disease.  From an educational perspective this game allows players analyze different groups of information and make decisions which affects the players journey and livelihood.  It also helps players understand what the journey was like in the mid 1800s through simulation.
